This Read Me file is a supplement to the Release Notes included in the Animation Works package. There is important information in both the release notes and this Read Me file. It is highly recommended that you read both.
1. In tutorial 3, on page 3-27, the manual says to use segment sizes of 10x10 for the wipe that you create. The release notes say to use 11x11 for B&W Macs. In fact, if you are doing the tutorials on a B&W Mac you will need to use segment sizes of at least 15x15. Color users can still use the 10x10 size without any problems.
2. The B&W tutorials were created in the 512x342 (Mac 9") screen size. The color tutorials were created in the 512x384 (Mac 12") screen size. When beginning the tutorials, be sure to set the screen size appropriately. To set the screen size, start the program and select Screen Size... from the File menu. Select the appropriate screen size and click on OK.
3. The Tutorials can be completed with 1 Megabyte of RAM on B&W Macs, and 2 Megabytes of RAM on color Macs. Since the Macintosh SE30 is a color capable Macintosh and must load Color QuickDraw 1.2 in order for Animation Works to run, SE30 users must have at least 2 Megabytes of RAM to complete the tutorials.
4. Included on the Tutorials disk are the completed tutorials 1 through 4 in both color and B&W. These finished tutorials use the actors and backgrounds that are provided on the disk. If you are running the tutorials from the floppy, you will not be asked to look for the actors that the tutorials use. If, however, you copy the finished tutorials to a hard disk and run them from there, you will be asked to locate any of the actors or backgrounds that the tutorials use. Once you have located the requested actors, and the movie is loaded in, you should re-save it. This will force the movie to remember the new location of its actors and backgrounds.
5. In the Movie Player section of the release notes, the second half of the second paragraph talks about shift clicking movies with the Movie Player to automatically play those movies. This is incorrect. Only Productions (documents you save in the Movie Player) can be shift clicked in combination with the Movie Player to make them run automatically.
